The Festival, dedicated to Italian theater and chamber music, is directed by Stefano Cioffi and organized by the Italian Flute Academy. Now in its 27th edition, it began as a festival dedicated to classical chamber music, but over the years it has expanded its scope to become a multifaceted festival that intertwines music, theater, literature, and the performing arts.
This year, events will once again take place at the Palladium Theater, the India Theater, the Torlonia Theater, the Vaccheria Nardi Library, and the European Library. The event has its roots in classical music and has gradually expanded over the years, embracing new languages of contemporary performance. Thus, today, Flautissimo also embraces theater, other musical genres, and cross-disciplinary performances. Among the many notable performers featured are: Emma Dante, Ennio Fantastichini, Galatea Ranzi, Elena Radonicich, Roberto Herlitzka, Massimo Wertmuller, Manuela Mandracchia, Francesco Piccolo, Giancarlo De Cataldo, Francesca Reggiani, Moni Ovadia, Fabrizio Bosso, Rita Marcotulli, Javier Girotto, Gabriele Coen, Emmanuel Pahud, Silvia Careddu, Avion Travel, Stefano Saletti & Banda Ikona, Klezroym, Giorgio Tirabassi, Max Paiella, Paola Minaccioni, and Valerio Aprea.
This year's edition, titled "Flautissimo Festival. Everything I wanted to tell you... or almost", is promoted and supported by Rome's Department of Culture in collaboration with the Italian Flute Academy and with the support of Zètema Progetto Cultura. The event, under the artistic direction of Stefano Cioffi, is also organized with the support of the Lazio Region and in collaboration with the Fondazione Roma Tre Teatro Palladium, and the Teatro di Roma.
The Italian Flute Academy is a cultural institution founded in Rome in 1988 for the promotion and dissemination of art, theater, live performance production, photography, education, music, live performance, and publishing. Since 1991, the Academy has organized Flautissimo, a multidisciplinary event that embraces music, literature, theater, and other contemporary artistic expressions using new media.
