
The Nuova Consonanza Festival, the traditional event dedicated to contemporary music, this year is entitled Politiké - music for tomorrow and presents twenty-five concerts, with thirty-eight world premieres, in various places in the city and its surroundings, including Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, Teatro Palladium, Mattatoio di Roma - La Pelanda, Palazzo Esposizioni Rome, Teatro Vascello, with decentralized concerts in Ardea, Rieti and Trevignano Romano.
This edition, which has as its theme the civil, ethical and spiritual commitment of making art, includes a series of themed evenings, contemporary musical theater and includes the participation of composers, musicians, artists and ensembles among the most relevant on the Italian and international scene.
The inauguration, which takes place on 30 October at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone (Teatro Studio Gianni Borgna, 9.00 pm), is dedicated to the 17 theses for sustainable development drawn up by the UN under the name of Agenda 2030, which concern the overcoming of inequalities, poverty and above all the conscious use of the planet's resources, a topic that is more relevant than ever today; during the evening, 17 Italian composers are called to musically comment on these theses, with the performance of new compositions interpreted by the soprano Arianna Lanci and the New Made Ensemble, under the direction of Alessandro Calcagnile.
The festival continues on November 1st with a tribute to Domenico Guaccero, performed by the EVO Ensemble and the Children's Choir of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia.
Among the most anticipated events, the collective work Demo-craczy on November 22nd at the Palladium Theatre, a satire inspired by Erasmus of Rotterdam's Praise of Madness, and the theatrical premiere of SyroSadunSettimino by Sylvano Bussotti, on stage on November 25th at the Vascello Theater. Other highlights include Buio atroce (Atrocious darkness) (November 29), a multimedia performance at the Mattatoio, and the Primo Levi-inspired concert I Sommersi e i Salvati (The Drowned and The Saved) (December 1), with music by Nicola Sani and other composers.
The festival also includes an educational section, with the De Musica workshop held by Stefano Gervasoni and the research project Composing dialogue by Alessandro Sbordoni. Particular tributes are dedicated to Luigi Nono, with an evening dedicated to him on 10 December, and to Maurizio Pollini, remembered in the Franco Evangelisti Composition Competition.
The event ends on December 20th with the concert of the competition finalists at the Mattatoio - La Pelanda.
The 61st Nuova Consonanza Festival is organized with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture - General Directorate for Entertainment and General Directorate for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes, of the Lazio Region with the 2024 Single Fund on Live Entertainment and of the INPS - PSMSAD Fund. The festival, promoted by Roma Capitale - Department of Culture, is the winner of the biennial Public Notice "Culture in Movimento 2023 - 2024" curated by the Cultural Activities Department and created in collaboration with LEA and SIAE. With the support of SIAE – Per Chi Crea, with the support of Fondazione Nuovi Mecenati - Franco-Italian foundation supporting contemporary creation.
