Ponte Giacomo Matteotti known as Ponte Matteotti, formerly known as Ponte del Littorio, is a bridge that connects the Arnaldo da Brescia embankment to Piazza delle Cinque Giornate in Rome, in the Prati district and the Flaminio and Della Vittoria districts.
Work on this bridge, designed by architect Antonelli, began in 1924. On 21 April 1929, Christmas in Rome, it was officially inaugurated. 133 metres long and 20 metres wide, it has only one decoration on the central arch: a plaque in which is carved an eagle with spread wings clutching the bundle in its talons. The pronte, connecting the Flaminio district to the Milizie district, was originally to be called Delle Milizie, but was later called Littorio. After the collapse of Fascism it was eventually dedicated to the socialist deputy Giacomo Matteotti who was assassinated in opposition to the regime near the bridge.
