The Ponte di Nona Archaeological Park is located in the Agro Romano, on the outskirts of Rome, in the eastern quadrant; it includes a green area of approximately 22 hectares and includes a part of the ancient via Collatina (which, in Roman times, connected the capital with the city of Gabii), long avenues, an athletic path with a children's area, a small area for dogs, multipurpose fields and events and an open-air theater with 750 seats.
The archaeological area of the ancient Via Collatina, in particular, has been enhanced through the recovery of some sections of the paving and a small Roman bridge.
In the Park area there is an artificial lake formed over the years right where there was a pozzolana quarry and is populated both by fish fauna and by some species of birds such as the Cormorant, the Little Grebe, the Coot, the Mallard, the Kestrel, Stonechat and Cappellaccia, and is listed among the wetlands by the WWF.
Inside the Park there is also the Parish dedicated to Saint Teresa of Calcutta built under the Pontificate of John Paul II. The building is covered almost completely with Tivoli travertine and seen laterally from the outside, it recalls the silhouette of the saint of Skopje kneeling in prayer.
