Located in the Flaminio district, in an area renowned for its sporting and cultural appeal, the Palazzetto dello Sport is easily accessible by public transport.
A prestigious venue conceived and designed by architect Annibale Vitellozzi and engineer Pier Luigi Nervi, it was built between 1956 and 1957 for the XVII Olympic Games held in Rome in 1960.
From its inauguration until 2002, the arena hosted some of the most celebrated moments in sporting history, particularly in boxing, thanks to the venue’s design, which is spacious yet still intimate. It subsequently staged professional and amateur basketball and volleyball matches, including those of the Bancoroma and Virtus Roma.
Following a lengthy closure and several restoration and refurbishment works, the venue reopened to the public on 15 October 2023, fully renovated and ready to host national basketball and volleyball championships, sporting competitions and other events.
The arena features a single-tier seating layout, while the parquet court is positioned below street level. The Palazzetto was designed to accommodate up to 3,500 spectators.
Today, the Palazzetto dello Sport can host a wide range of corporate events, subject to feasibility assessment based on the proposed project.
