The VIVE is one of the eleven institutes with important general interest under the Minister of Culture equipped with special self-government, namely a scientific, financial, accounting and administrative authority: established in 2019, the VIVE became operative on 2 November 2020.
It is a permanent non-profit institution, open at the public, at the service of the society and its development. A symbol of the Republic and its constitutional heritage, it protects and promotes the architectural and decorative structures and collections, mainly through research and study. The VIVE also promotes public access to them, with a view to full and modern education in active, democratic and European citizenship. Located in the centre of the city's fabric, the VIVE proposes itself as a place for exhibitions of high scientific quality, contributing to the revival of Rome in the field of national and international art exhibitions.
The VIVE manages the Museo Centrale del Risorgimento, located inside the Vittoriano, also availing itself of the collaboration of the Istituto per la Storia del Risorgimento italiano for scientific and research activities.
