Founded in 1949, the institution has cultural, artistic and scientific character, opened to all the fields of the search. It promotes cultural activities organizing courses of language and music, conferences, congresses, concerts, exhibitions, competitions of music and painting. It publishes the semiannual review "Studies on the Christian East".
