The exhibition at the House Museum H.C. Andersen, curated by the photographic collective il LABirinto, entitled AbitarTe. The Roman house museums is part of the project started with the previous photographic exhibition Archiscultura and offers around 15 new photographic shots.
The exhibition is therefore structured around the theme of house-museums from a historical-artistic point of view through a comparison between the latter. The photographs document these homes rich in history and memory, highlighting similarities and differences. The objective of the exhibition is therefore to raise awareness of less obvious aspects of these wonderful places, highlighting new analogies among them by historical photos.
The house-museums documented in the exhibition are those of Mario Praz, who represents a "unique piece" with his large collection of paintings, sculptures, graphics, furniture and rare objects; that of di Giorgio and Isa de Chirico, an apartment inhabited by the great painter in the last 30 years of his life where, in the vast halls, one can admire the richness of light and the bright colors of his neo-metaphysical works; the Scelsi House-Museum, Giacinto Scelsi's laboratory and workplace where his music, his poems and his writings can be found. Finally, the Keats-Shelley House, which is located next to the Spanish Steps, is the final resting place of John Keats, who died there in 1821 at just twenty-five years old.
All photos are accompanied by explanatory texts and a selection of reproductions of historical photos taken from the archives of some of the house museums.
