The Stadio Olimpico hosts the super match between the Italian and English national teams in the most prestigious international 15-a-side rugby tournament in the Northern Hemisphere, the Guinness Six Nations Championship.
The renowned competition has a long history behind it: founded in the late 19th century as the Home Nations Championship, it was initially only played by the four teams from the British Isles. Between 1910 and 1931 and then between 1947 and 1999 France was also invited to participate, and the league changed its name to become known as the Five Nations. The current name is from 2000, the year of the Italian national team's debut.
As is customary, each of the six teams will face each other only once in the biggest stadiums of the six capital cities.
The 2024 edition starts on 2 February with the match between France and Ireland at the Orange Vélodrome. The second home match of the new Gonzalo Quesada-born Italy is scheduled for Saturday 9 March 2024 at 3.15 p.m.
