The Centrale Montemartini hosts the exhibition Uninhabitable Architectures, curated by Chiara Sbarigia and Dario Dalla Lana. The exhibition, through 150 photographs, historical videos and unpublished texts by writers on 8 architectures, proposes a new point of view on architecture, highlighting a concept different from that usually linked to housing functionality, to analyze the relationship between living and building. To this purpose, the exhibition examines some buildings with a notable symbolic value distributed throughout the national territory, representative of the cities in which they were built without the assumption of habitability.
The exhibition combines photographs taken from the Luce Archive and other important archives with works by contemporary photographers and artists: such as Gianni Berengo Gardin, Guido Guidi, Steve McCurry, Marzia Miglior, as well as some images by Francesco Jodice and Silvia Camporesi expressly commissioned for the exhibition, as well as pages that the most esteemed Italian writers composed for the occasion.
The exhibition is promoted by Roma Capitale, Department of Culture, Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, organized and created by Archivio Luce Cinecittà.
