On the occasion of the day dedicated to the patron saint of eyesight, born in Syracuse, the Embassy of Sweden presents two evocative musical events celebrating one of the Scandinavian country's most significant and highly awaited traditions.
The initiative, which involves other Italian cities ─ Turin, Bologna, Lecce and Galatina ─ illuminates the darkness of Roman afternoons with a poetic and typical Saint Lucy procession, made up of nine students from the Nordiska Musikgymnasiet music high school in Stockholm, in their characteristic white robes with a red belt, singing traditional Christmas melodies.
Organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden to the Holy See, Assosvezia, the Honorary Consulates of Sweden in Bologna and Turin, Villa Nobel in Sanremo, and the Associazione EuforicaI, the celebrations take place on Sunday, 10 December, at 6 p.m., with the concert in the Church of Santa Lucia, and on Monday, 11 December, at 5 p.m., in the majestic St. Peter's Basilica, where the choir takes part in the Holy Mass.
