The city of Rome has confirmed its role as the protagonist of major sporting events, once again hosting the prestigious tournament organised by FITA in the splendid Stadio Nicola Pietrangeli in the Foro Italico Complex.
The Rome leg, with an evocative opening ceremony in Piazza di Spagna, is part of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix circuit, and is one of the four dedicated to the Korean martial art born in the mid-20th century that the world federation organises annually throughout the world.
The exciting competition, open to the public without limitation and totally free of charge, sees the world's stars, the best 32 Olympic athletes, compete in search of valid points for qualification for the Paris Olympic Games.
The spotlight is on the young champions of tomorrow with Kim & Liù, the international tournament for young athletes from 6 to 11 years old: about 2,000 children from all over Europe are competing at the same time as their favourites to make their dreams come true and win their first medal.
As in the past editions, the Demo Team, the world's most important acrobatic World Taekwondo team, will be performing on an exciting Italian tour, with the last stop in Rome for a great show on 8 June.
