The objective of the exhibition at the Mattatoio is to enhance and recover city and peri-urban agriculture, assuming strategic centrality, since it is able to integrate multiple aspects such as soil and environmental protection, urban livability, food quality , the creation of skilled work, solidarity and social integration, the reception of immigrants, environmental education, experimentation and innovation.
In fact, Rome is the largest agricultural municipality in Europe, both in terms of extension (63,000 hectares) and in terms of the quantity and quality of the products of the earth and can be defined as the European Capital of Agriculture and Green (the public cultivable area exceeds 10,000 hectares ). This enormous heritage is of great value for the city and could create hundreds of jobs also for disabled girls and boys.
The leitmotif of the exhibition is "Rome as a city with zero soil consumption" with the relaunch of urban and peri-urban agriculture and presents documents, films, photographic materials that in recent years have been produced by the Associations and Groups that have worked in the territories and contributions from planners and technicians.
