The historic Duke Ellington Orchestra, born in 1923, is back to perform at the Teatro Olimpico, thanks to Duncan Eventi, to whom we also owe the orchestra's first real tour in 2015.
The concert offers the most famous songs of the great American musician, such as: It Don't Mean a Thing if it Ain't Got That Swing, Take the A train, Mood Indigo, Satin Doll, Caravan, In A Sentimental Mood and many other successes.
The Duke Ellington Orchestra, which has performed worldwide for the past 88 years under the leadership of three generations of the Ellington family, preserves the authentic music of composer Edward Kennedy 'Duke' Ellington called the "Duke" for his royal nobility. spirit and elegance of manners. Ellington was one of the most creative American musicians of the 20th century. His career lasted more than 50 years and it was he himself who founded and directed this Orchestra which has handed down his extraordinary compositions: film soundtracks, songs, pieces.
Although many consider Duke Ellington's music in the field of jazz, he himself preferred to call it "American Music" for the vastness of the tunes, movements, influences and rhythms which characterize it.
