San Giacomo alla Lungara

Once the church was called San Giacomo in Settignano being nearby the Porta Settimiana. It was founded in C.IX and has a Romanesque bell-tower built during C. XIII; it is the only church in Rome of this period having a single-lancet window. The original temple, with three naves, was completely restored, for Cardinal Francesco Barberini, by Luigi Arrigucci (1643) and restored in 1901. Inside the church, with a single nave, a portrait of San Giacomo attributed to Giovanni Francesco Romanelli is placed on the high altar. In the presbytery is the macabre funeral monument of Ippolito Merenda by Bernini.
