118th Exhibition of the Hundred Painters in via Margutta

The autumn appointment with the Hundred Painters of via Margutta is back, the historical association of painters founded in 1953, in the midst of the "Dolce Vita", which exhibits its works in the street from which the association takes its name. This year the title of this 118th edition is "A hundred painters for peace, a hundred colours against war", a topic that is more relevant than ever in this period.

The famous street of via Margutta has a long history: it became a favorite destination for painters and artists since the Renaissance, a period in which artists from all over Europe began to buy houses and set up their shops, it was chosen in 1927 by Pietro Lombardi for the project of a fountain called "Fountain of the Arts", surmounted by a bucket with brushes with reference to painting and by two masks, which over time became the symbol of the street.

It was then in 1970 that the “Hundred Painters of Via Margutta” was established with a regulation and a statute, which soon became one of the few exhibitions on the street that represents a fixed appointment for both art lovers and critics, as well as for Romans and foreigners.
