Founded in 1715 by Giovanni Maria Lancisi, it has assumed the current denomination in 1935.
Its aim is to promote the medical and scientific search, by fostering the debate with conferences and conventions on topics of the present time in medical, surgical and specialistic fields.
It publishes the semiannual periodical Atti dell'Accademia Lancisiana"(Deeds of the Lancisian Academy).
