Marking Your Time For Over a Century
In 1882, Maestro Antonio Bedetti conducted the establishment of the first watch and jewelry shop, close to the Teatro Marcello, together with his partner Cavalier Carlo Bandiera. His famous water clock, a work of art and an engineering marvel, on display at Villa Borghese, is testimony to his passion.
In 1955, his son, Marcello, having taken over the reins, inaugurated the historic shop in Piazza San Silvestro, inside Palazzo Marignoli. Marcello, an eclectic, cultured, and ironic man, immediately ensured the company’s definitive success, positioning it at the top in just a few years, also thanks to the professionalism and expertise which still guarantee reliable and valued service to the customer.
In the 1950s, Marcello’s engaging personality and the magnificent venue, distributed over three floors, led to Bedetti also becoming the set for Dino Risi’s movie "Il Mattatore", starring Vittorio Gassman, making the prestigious shop famous in the world of cinema. Rolex, Cartier, Panerai, Baume & Mercier, and many high-end manufacturers entrust Bedetti’s master watchmakers with the sale and repairs of their products.
At the end of the 1980s, Massimo Bedetti, Marcello’s son, obtained a diploma in gemology in Los Angeles. This will allow him to authoritatively enter the field of precious stones, which he personally chooses in Thailand and Burma, with the aim of creating exclusive Bedetti collections, making it possible for customers to see truly unique pieces of jewelry made by expert designers.
The new millennium saw the fourth generation of the Bedetti family at the helm, led by Marcello and Stefano, who expanded their already well-established area of expertise by opening the first Rolex Corner in Italy. Thanks to their decades of experience, in 2005 they also created a line of watches under the Bedetti brand to celebrate the shop's fiftieth anniversary. In the Eternal City, time flows to the rhythm of the centuries, but the hours are marked by Bedetti.
