The park lies in the south-west part of the city and is bounded to the north by Via della Vignaccia and Via della Pisana, to the west by the great ring road (GRA), to the south by the Tiber and tothe east by the suburbs of Bravetta, Corviale and Pino Lecce. The landscape is characterised by crops and grazing land alternating with woods of oaks and cork-trees. The erosive action of the Tiber and its tributaries in this area has led to the formation of crests and level ground bounded by the Brava, Acquafredda, Bravetta and Maglianella drain age ditches. Together with the nearby Valle dei Casali, the park forms an important green corridor between the city and the Tiber’s flood plain and coastal plains. The animals living in the park are those typical of farming areas and include many rodents, such asthe long-tailed field mouse and house mouse, and birds like the kestrel, brown kite, starling, goldfinch and lark. The wooded areas also include the owl andpied woodpecker.
