RIPENSE - Accademia Nazionale di San Luca

Ripense 2026 Mostra Beck. Foto Andrea Veneri

Opened in July 2026 and named after the street in the Rione Trastevere where it is situated, adjacent to Lungotevere Ripa, Ripense is a multidisciplinary space dedicated to art and culture, run by the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, the historic artists’ association officially founded in Rome at the end of the 16th century.

Originally built as a warehouse and wholesale depot for steel sections and metals, the site retains its industrial charm intact. It features high ceilings, wide open spans and exposed steel beams, originally designed to support heavy loads and facilitate the unloading of goods. From 2016 to 2025, the building housed the T293 contemporary art gallery, which preserved its original industrial features; it was subsequently purchased by the Toti Scialoja Foundation, for which it was intended to become the future headquarters.

Following the scrapping of that project, the space was taken over by the Accademia, which can now use the large and versatile space of around 400 square meters to develop new initiatives and expand its already rich cultural program.
