Officially launched in March last year, Julia is the first urban generative AI tool designed to interact in real time with those who live in, visit or pass through Rome. With the new 2.5 release, developed in collaboration with Microsoft, Intellera, NTT DATA, Fastweb, 01 Sistemi and BIP, Rome’s virtual assistant takes a new step towards making the city more digital, simpler and closer to its people.
The first new feature concerns the extension of access channels. Julia 2.5 is now also available on Roma Capitale institutional website – a portal with around 18 million visits a year – to guide users through the site, helping them navigate the services offered online (around 90) and the more than 160,000 pieces of information available to residents, city users and tourists. From the portal’s pages, Julia is accessible via a widget that is always available: it remains active whilst browsing and keeps the conversation going, answering questions with direct links, related documents and references to official sources.
The new release is also able to provide more accurate and relevant answers thanks to specialised agents for each area of expertise and a Super Agent orchestrator. As well as providing information on entertainment, leisure and city life, Julia 2.5 is now up to date with cinema listings, post office opening hours, contact details and services, and the locations of water dispensers and recycling bins. Speaking fluently in over 80 languages.
