To mark the 174th anniversary of the founding of the Polizia di Stato (State Police), starting from Friday 10 April, Piazza del Popolo will host the much-anticipated event in the presence of the highest state authorities and representatives from the various branches of the police. The initiative unfolds over four days of public engagement in the heart of Rome, alongside the “Spazio della Legalità”, which opens at the end of the institutional ceremony and will be open to visitors until Monday 13 April.

In Piazza del Viminale, on 10 April, master flower artists from Genzano di Roma will present their work dedicated to the 174th anniversary, together with two modern vehicles, the Lamborghini Huracán and the Alfa Romeo Tonale, and two historic cars, the Fiat 1100 Musone and the Alfetta 1800.

This year’s theme, La Polizia che guarda al futuro, points to a future shaped by technological evolution and new challenges for the women and men of the State Police, but also by new opportunities for many young people to join the “crimson family”, thanks to the recruitment competitions that will be announced over the course of the year.

Young people are central to many of the events taking place in the square, where they can get a closer look at the work carried out by police officers and discover a range of insights into the activities the Police undertake in support of citizens.

The area will be freely accessible from 1 pm to 7 pm on 10 April, from 9 am to 7 pm on 11 and 12 April, and from 9 am to 2 pm on Monday 13 April.

This year, the Postal Police will also be present at Galleria Alberto Sordi from 10 to 13 April, with the interactive exhibition “InsospettAbili”, dedicated to the prevention of online fraud.

Motoring enthusiasts will be able to take a souvenir photo aboard a Lamborghini Urus or a Tesla in State Police livery, while admirers of historic vehicles will have the opportunity to see up close the Alfa Romeo 1.9 TI Super and the 2.600 Sprint, the Jeep Willys, the Moto Guzzi Falcone 500, and the V7 sidecar.

Also returning this year are operational demonstrations and musical performances open to all, featuring the Mounted Fanfare on Saturday 11 April at 12 pm, the State Police Band on Sunday 12 April at 6 pm with a large free concert presented by Rudy Zerbi and the special participation of The Kolors, and the Fanfare on Monday 13 April at 1 pm.
