An explosion of rhythm, energy and creativity: from 14 to 19 April, the renowned British company founded by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas arrives on the stage of the Teatro Olimpico for six dates as part of its international tour.
The sensational ensemble, a true global phenomenon for over thirty years, brings to life an engaging performance that combines percussion, dance, music and theatre, inspired by the sounds of everyday life, from common objects to urban noises in a decidedly metropolitan atmosphere.
Eight performers, formidable dancers-acrobats-percussionists with an extraordinary sense of rhythm, “play” everyday objects such as lighters, matchboxes, bin lids, brooms, tyres, and sinks, creating a captivating and irresistible urban choreography.
Created in Brighton in 1991 by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, Stomp has conquered the world's most prestigious theatres over the years, achieving international success. The company received numerous awards, including the 1994 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Choreography, an Obie Award, an Emmy Award for the HBO special Stomp Out Loud, and the 2003 Innovator Award, presented to Steve McNicholas and Luke Cresswell by the American Choreography Association in Los Angeles.
