The comedy Some Like It Hot, loosely based on the 1959 film of the same name directed by Billy Wilder, considered one of the masterpieces of American cinema history, as well as winner of an Oscar and three Golden Globes, is on stage at the Greco Theatre, directed by Geppy Gleijeses.
The well-known story takes place in 1929 Chicago, at the height of Prohibition, when gangsters are devising every stratagem to sell alcohol. It centers on Joe and Jerry, two musicians in a small band operating in the hidden room of a funeral home. The two friends, escaping a raid and searching for a song, accidentally witness the Valentine's Day massacre in a garage. Forced to flee after being discovered by the menacing Ghette gang, the two musicians have no choice but to disguise themselves as women to join a girl group leaving to perform in Florida: from that moment on, they will become Dafne and Josephine. In the band, however, they will meet the charming Sugar Kane and become irresistibly attracted to her.
The play, which features dozens of different settings, including beaches and luxury yachts, is an unforgettable and hilarious piece of theater, truly not to be missed.
