Getting around Rome by public transport and purchasing tickets is now possible thanks to a partnership between ATAC, Moovit and Wetechnology.
Moovit, the leading platform in the Mobility as a Service (MaaS), has developed a new feature that leverages Wetechnology's technological and sales infrastructure to allow citizens and tourists to move more easily around the streets and squares of Rome, choosing the best solutions for their itineraries, purchasing tickets directly on the app and validating them on ATAC-managed lines.
This useful initiative is part of the national MaaS4Italy project, implemented by the Dipartimento per la Trasformazione Digitale (Department for Digital Transformation) with the support of the Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti (Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport), which, in this case, aims to test the MaaF – Mobility as a Feature model to make mobility a simple and integrated experience, accessible through numerous digital platforms.
The partnership between ATAC and Moovit can now provide highly accurate arrival times for public transport in Rome: Moovit is an internationally renowned app, with over a billion users worldwide and available in more than 40 languages.
Tourists who already use Moovit in their own countries can now use it in Rome too, without having to download new apps and face language barriers. They can purchase tickets directly in the app and easily navigate Rome's public transport system for a more intuitive and seamless travel experience.
