Officially started with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica on 24 December 2024, the Jubilee 2025 is the 27th ordinary universal jubilee in the history of the Church and the second jubilee inaugurated by Pope Francis after the extraordinary one in 2015.
The entire jubilee period is characterized by a rich calendar of religious, cultural and social events. Aside from celebrations and rituals addressed to all the faithful, the Holy Year’s program includes several “jubilees” dedicated to different categories of people, identified according to specific professions or their role within the family, the Church and society. Each one includes moments of dialogue and spirituality, with a concluding mass celebrated by the pope or a delegate.
The days from 22 to 23 November are promoted by the Dicastery for Evangelization to celebrate the power of sacred music in the life of the Church and to highlight the role of liturgical choirs as instruments of evangelization and communion. The Jubilee of Choirs will begin on Saturday 22 November with a pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St Peter’s Basilica and opportunities for confession in the Jubilee churches. In the late afternoon, from 5 to 7.30 p.m., choirs will sing at evening masses in the churches and parishes of Rome, followed by final concerts. The following day, St Peter’s Square will host the morning Mass presided over by the Pope (10.30 a.m.): the celebration is open to all and free of charge, with no ticket required.
The program is subject to change.
