The one-act musical comedy at the Teatro Olimpico, directed by Gigi Palla and loosely based on the story of the same name by Laura Orvieto, tells the legendary origins of Rome through three episodes featuring two different pairs of brothers and one pair of cousins.
In the first episode, Numitor and Amulius, sons of King Proca of Alba, vie for the inheritance of the throne and the riches of the kingdom; in the second, Anto and Silvia, the two princess daughters of Numitor and Amulius respectively, now grown, meet different destinies: Anto that of wife and mother, Silvia that of a Vestal Virgin, priestess of the goddess Vesta; and finally Romulus and Remus, sons of Silvia and the god Mars, whose myth is intertwined with the founding of Rome. We are, in fact, at the dawn of Rome, a period where history begins, a period in which Rome did not yet exist.
