The church is the seat of the parish of the same name, established on 25 March 1961 by decree of Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara Cum in Region. The church was visited by John Paul II on 6 March 1988.
It has a circular layout, in exposed reinforced concrete, with a green slab roof. Externally it has a wide staircase that gives access to a portico where the three entrance doors open. Above the two side doors are the inions Ego sum ostium and Ego sum pastor bonus. Above the portico is the dedicatory inion: D.O.M. in honorem Sancti Damasi papae A.D. MCMLXIX.
The interior has a circular development. Above the altar, located in a recess opposite the entrance, is a drawing depicting Jesus' Last Supper with the apostles. The baptistery chapel is significant, where the baptismal font is depicted as a wineskin, flanked by a bronze cross around which are three doves, also made of bronze; three large terracotta panels depict women at the fountain, seen from the water side. On the right is the organ exhibition while the console is positioned next to the presbytery. On the left is the statue of Our Lady of Trust.
From the vault hang four iron chandeliers made by sculptor Ubert Piacco, placed in space and projected into a time without historical reference. Perpendicular to the altar, the sculptor has instead created an iron crown of thorns surrounding a circular light source oriented towards the sky.
