The parish was erected on 11 October 1941 by decree of Cardinal Vicar Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani Quo facilius and entrusted to the diocesan clergy of Rome, then to the Congregation of the Priests of the Christian Doctrine (Dottrinari). The territory, taken from that of the parish of the Gran Madre di Dio, by decree of the Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara dated 1 May 1954, was modified as follows: Starting from the junction of the Via Veientana with the Fosso della Crescenza, follow the said Fosso northwards, until you meet the Fosso della Volusia - follow the said Fosso, then the valley of the same name, until you come out on the Via Cassia, at the height of 11.700 km - cross the Via Cassia at the said point and descend towards the south-west, along the drainage ditch, until reaching the Fosso di Acqua Traversa. The boundaries with the suburbicarian diocese of Porto-S.Rufina were rectified on 1 May 1954. Recognition for civil effects was decreed on 22 May 1942. The real estate is owned by the Pont. Opera per la Preservazione dalla Fede e la Provision di nuove Chiese in Roma. The architectural design is by Tullio Rossi.
