Inaugurated on 11 April 2025, the Study Room at the Palazzo Esposizioni is located on the ground floor of the prestigious building, next to the Bookshop and the Cafeteria.
The Room is equipped with 24 workstations on 6 tables, in an area of approximately 30 square metres, with free-access Wi-Fi network and charging sockets for electronic devices, spot lighting with 4 floor lamps and 12 wardrobe lockers.
The Study Rooms are conceived to offer citizens new spaces dedicated to reading, studying and socialising in some of Rome's most evocative locations. The initiative is part of a larger project to create a network of Capitoline study rooms, complementary to the civic library system. The project of the network of study rooms was born with the aim of guaranteeing accessible and welcoming spaces for citizens, enhancing the cultural heritage of the city.
Palazzo delle Esposizioni
Much loved by the Romans and increasingly visited by tourists, this majestic building represents a space of culture and fascination for the city being also the largest exhibition and multidisciplinary space in the centre of Rome.
The project to erect the first building in Italy totally dedicated to the Fine Arts was born from the desire to create a place that would enhance Rome's cultural vocation. Its realisation was entrusted to the architect Pio Piacentini, and work began in 1880. The Palace was inaugurated, with great pomp and in the presence of the King, in 1883.
The monumental effect is especially evident in the central part of the candid façade characterised by a deep arched opening and a sequence of statues - placed later - on the columns and pilasters on the front.
Piacentini created a building inspired by a decidedly classicist tradition softened, however, by the search for an international style. One of the most visible features of the building is the lack of windows on the front elevation, which creates continuous surfaces inside that are consistent with exhibition requirements.
