The splendid Basilica of Maxentius hosts the special event that, on the feast in honour of the patron saints of Rome, Saints Peter and Paul, inaugurates the Caracalla Festival 2025, the summer season of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.
The protagonist is the renowned theologian and communicator Vito Mancuso, who invites the audience to reflect on the themes of reconciliation and the importance of nourishing and keeping a form of spirituality alive.
The appointment features a performance of Lagrime di San Pietro, the famous cycle of madrigals for seven voices composed by Orlando di Lasso, the brilliant Flemish composer of the Renaissance. As the musician's last composition, the work was completed just before he died in 1594 and dedicated to Pope Clement VIII.
In an evocative combination of music and spirituality, the event represents a symbol of welcome and dialogue for Jubilee pilgrims, with live electronics by Roman composer Vittorio Montalti.
