The collaboration between the Capitoline Superintendence and the Roma Tre Orchestra is renewed this year too, with a rich and varied program of chamber music concerts focused on the classical repertoire. Thanks to this initiative, in fact, inside the Villa Borghese park, the Carlo Bilotti Museum and the Pietro Canonica Museum host, on Saturdays and Sundays, free of charge for all visitors, some of the most famous Italian musicians who perform surrounded by the works of Giorgio de Chirico and the sculptures of Pietro Canonica.
As part of the concert program, we would like to highlight the Homage to Franz Liszt, on Saturday 21 December at 12:00. The concert will feature Années de pèlerinage. Deuxième Année. Italie, S 161, taken from the cycle of three collections of piano pieces by the great composer, which were composed during his travels in Switzerland and Italy with Countess Marie d’Agoult, between 1835 and 1839 and which are widely considered the masterpiece and synthesis of Liszt’s musical style. The title Années de pèlerinage refers to Goethe’s famous novel of self-realization Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship, clearly placing these compositions in line with the Romantic literature of the time: Liszt in fact, preceded most of the pieces with a literary passage from authors such as Schiller, Byron or Senancour.
At the piano Maurizio Baglini.
