The 2024-2025 Symphony Season opens in Santa Cecilia with a rich and ambitious program; in fact, the new Musical Director Daniel Harding conducts six subscription concerts, which include pieces by composers such as Brahms, Debussy, Schumann, Brahms, Mahler, Verdi and Prokofiev, with some rarely performed symphonies, such as Suk's Second Symphony, scheduled for the first time in Santa Cecilia. Furthermore, thanks to the new director, there will be numerous new artistic projects with Deutsche Grammophon, in the Roman Basilicas and in the most important European concert halls.
The most illustrious soloists such as Martha Argerich, Beatrice Rana, Lisa Batiashvili, Daniil Trifonov, Viktoria Mullova and the most important conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Gustavo Dudamel, Semyon Bychkov, Sir Antonio Pappano, Jakub Hrůša, Daniele Gatti, Teodor Currentzis and Myung-Whun Chung also return to Santa Cecilia; while Joshua Bell will be artist in residence.
A particularly awaited event is the return of Harding's predecessor to Santa Cecilia, Antonio Pappano who, accompanied by the Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko, conducts a program dedicated to Claude Debussy's Nocturnes and Ferruccio Busoni's Concerto for Piano, Orchestra and Male Choir.
