The Vittoriano in summer: evening openings, workshops and special visits

from 15 July 2024 to 13 September 2024

An iconic monument that offers a breathtaking view of the city of Rome, even more impressive during summer evenings. The cultural offerings at the Vittoriano, the giant complex conceived in January 1878 in honor of Italy’s first king Victor Emmanuel II and the entire Risorgimento process, do not slow down in the summer; on the contrary, they continue to be extensive and diverse.

As an example, mention can be made of the evening openings, with extended hours compared to previous years to further promote awareness of a heritage of absolute artistic and cultural importance beyond the usual visiting occasions. Every Friday until 13 September (except 16 August), as well as on Saturday 7 and 14 September, it is possible to visit the Vittoriano complex until 11:30 p.m., with last admission at 10:45 p.m., and to climb up to the spectacular Panoramic Terrace, with its 360-degree view of Rome and its millennial urban fabric.

High-level initiatives under the banner of accessibility and inclusion, both in the evening and during the day, complete the program of activities promoted by VIVE - Vittoriano e Palazzo Venezia. In addition to the guided tours and workshops for children and families that guide children to discover the Vittoriano through animated storytelling, of great interest are the special visits (on 8 August 8 and 12 September, at 10 a.m.) to the sculpture restoration site on the Vittoriano’s main elevation carried out thanks to the contribution of Bvlgari. The visits are a unique opportunity to climb the scaffolding, see up close the sculptural decoration of the monument discovering its executive quality but also the conservation problems and the solutions adopted to bring them back to full legibility.
