Villa d’Este, Villa Adriana and Villa Gregoriana by night: extraordinary evening openings in July and August

from 6 July 2024 to 24 August 2024

A summer evening of art, culture and beauty in the ancient city on the outskirts of Rome. In Tivoli, Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este - VILLÆ celebrate the summer with a series of extraordinary evening openings. Until 24 August, the villa built by Cardinal Ippolito d’Este, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, will extend its visiting hours until 11.45 pm on Saturdays 6, 13, 20, 27 July and 3, 10, 17, 24 August. It will be an unmissable opportunity to admire its splendid Renaissance frescoes, monumental fountains and marvelous gardens in a new guise, in which the lights and iridescent reflections of water are the main feature.

The scheduled openings will also involve the imposing Villa Adriana, built between 118 and 138 A.D. by the Emperor Hadrian, in a green and water-rich area near ancient Tibur. On 15 and 16 August, the archaeological site will remain open until 11 pm, to let us discover the immortal beauty and charm of the ruins of the great imperial residence by starlight, in a magical, suspended atmosphere.

As part of the FAI’s Perceptions at Sunset initiative, the Parco Villa Gregoriana will also open out of hours, from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm. In July (on the 13 and 27 July) and August (on the 10 and 17 August), with prior booking, it will be possible to immerse oneself in the regenerating coolness of the park created by Pope Gregory XVI in the first half of the 19th century, a unique setting where nature, history, archaeology and artifice come together. The lights of sunset make its ancient paths, caves, waterfalls and illustrious vestiges of the past stand out: a path among noises, rustling, vibrations to make body and mind communicate and experience the harmony between nature and man.
