
The Colosseum Archaeological Park and the Petra Authority have signed a Twinning Agreement to promote cultural and tourism cooperation between the two important sites, both listed as World Heritage sites. The agreement aims to promote exchanges and joint strategies to enhance each other's cultural heritage and was signed by Dr. Fares Braizat, Chief Commissioner of the Petra Authority and Dr. Alfonsina Russo, General Director of the Colosseum Archaeological Park. The Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli stressed the importance of expanding international relations with Mediterranean countries, in line with the objectives of the Mattei Plan.
Specifically, the agreement provides for cooperation in various areas, including the organization of workshops for the conservation of archaeological sites, the realization of joint cultural events and the exchange of information on joint activities between the two institutions. In addition, it also includes the introduction of reciprocal visit programs to promote both sites, along with the presentation of promotional materials and introductory videos to be displayed at each site. Both parties emphasized that this agreement is not simply a collaboration pact, but also and above all a global partnership that contributes to the enhancement of the cultural and historical heritage of both Petra and the Colosseum, consolidating their status as internationally renowned tourist destinations, capable of attracting visitors from all over the world.
