More than 60 museums and cultural venues extraordinarily open “after hours” for a festive night dedicated to art and entertainment. The fourteenth edition of the Notte dei Musei - Night of Museums, the now traditional Roman May event that has been held simultaneously throughout Europe since 2006 and in Rome is promoted by Roma Capitale, Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali with the organization of Zètema Progetto Cultura, closed with a great success.
In Rome, the event involved more than 76,000 people this year (a significant increase compared to the 2023 and 2022 figures). From 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., at the symbolic cost of one euro or completely free of charge, the City-run Museums and many other spaces of the city’s cultural life offered their visitors the possibility to attend more than 100 performances of all kinds, exhibitions and guided tours surrounded by art and beauty.
Kicking off this year’s Notte dei Musei was the concert starring Alessandra Amoroso in the setting of the recently opened Archaeological Park of the Caelian, in front of more than 5,000 spectators. The imposing ruins of Mercati di Traiano-Museo dei Fori Imperiali were the extraordinary stage for the other top event, Jacopo Godani’s choreography to live music that lit up the vaults of the ancient monumental complex with an unusual light.
But the influx of visitors was constant throughout the evening, allowing significant figures to be reached in a great many spaces: as far as the civic museums are concerned, for example, record figures were recorded at the Museum of Rome, with over 7,000 admissions, and at the Capitoline Museums with over 6,000 admissions.
