Increasingly encouraging the spread of soft mobility integrated with local public transport by encouraging the movement of environmentally friendly vehicles such as bicycles to reach one’s destination without using a car. This is the idea behind the new “Bike Parking” service, which allows people to safely park their bicycles in enclosed stalls at some subway stations and continue their journey by public transport.
The service offered by Atac will include 2,000 bike boxes in 40 subway stations and is currently available in 17 stations: Anagnina MA, Arco di Travertino MA, Battistini MA, Giulio Agricola MA, Lucio Sestio MA, Porta Furba MA, Subaugusta MA, Laurentina MB, Magliana MB, Ponte Mammolo MB, Rebibbia MB, San Paolo Basilica MB, Conca d’Oro MB1, Jonio MB1, Malatesta MC, Teano MC and Torre Maura MC (Pigneto will be active from July 2024). The “Bike Parking” service is operational according to the opening and closing hours of the subway stations.
In the first phase, access to the service is free of charge and allowed only to customers over 18 years of age who have a personalized Metrebus Card Roma or Lazio (zone A included), on which a monthly or annual pass is active. At the first access it is necessary to register on the “Bike Parking” app. With the “Family Parking” formula it is possible to park up to 3 bicycles with a single account, .
