On Sunday, 19 October, the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon, an unmissable event for all runners organised by RomaOstia and RCS Sports & Events, kicks off.
Following the great success of last year's edition, with over 17,000 runners, this extraordinary sporting event is once again one of the most eagerly awaited in Rome, with thousands of registrations already received, including a large number of foreign participants.
The route, just over 21 kilometres long amidst the beauty and history of Rome, starts at 8.30 a.m. from the Circus Maximus and has up to five waves at the start. It winds its way through the city's most iconic streets, monuments and landmarks, such as Rione Testaccio, the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, the Baths of Caracalla, Rione Prati, to the heart of the Eternal City - Via del Corso, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona, Piazza Venezia, the Imperial Fora and Via degli Annibaldi, in front of the Colosseum, the magnificent backdrop to the competition's finish line.
Besides the half-marathon, the Longevity Run is on the schedule on Saturday, 18 October : the non-competitive 5-kilometre run/walk open to everyone, in collaboration with the Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli IRCCS, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of sport for health. Preceded by a series of free, scheduled training sessions, the event kicks off at 9.30 a.m. in Viale del Circo Massimo, with a route that goes through the Aventino and Ostiense districts to the finish line at the Nando Martellini Stadium near the Baths of Caracalla.
On the same day, Saturday 18t October, the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon programme also includes the Dog Run Arcaplanet, a run dedicated to runners and their four-legged friends (route and location to be defined).
