As part of the Walks towards Rome of the Jubilee 2025, the St. Francis' Walk is one of the routes that lead to Rome, winding through the most significant places in the life of Saint Francis of Assisi.
For this Walk, Zètema proposes an itinerary that starts from Piazza Sempione and arrives at Saint Peter’s Basilica: starting from Piazza Sempione and crossing the Ponte Tazio over the Aniene River, you walk on the sidewalk and then on a cycle/pedestrian path along the Aniene River. At this point you cross the Via Salaria and after crossing the road you pass the entrance to Villa Ada, the second largest park in Rome; the path continues along the Mosque of Rome. We continue passing next to the entrance of Villa Glori and then we reach the Auditorium Parco della Musica. In a short time then, we reach Ponte Milvio, one of the most important and ancient bridges in the city. Crossing it we take the cycle/pedestrian path along the Tiber which offers unique views of Sant’Angelo Castle and St. Peter’s dome; leaving the cycle/pedestrian path and walking along the banks of the Tiber we reach the recently renovated Piazza Pia. From here, walking along viale della Conciliazione, the profile of one of the greatest wonders of the world stands out: St. Peter’s Basilica.
