Roman Grape Harvest 2025, the wine and grape festival, returns to Rome's Botanical Garden on September 13th and 14th, to relive the joy of one of the most beautiful folk festivals of all time and, above all, to celebrate the ancient ritual of the grape harvest. It's a day to enjoy outdoors with the whole family, discovering the biodiversity of vineyards and grapes, and Vigneto Italia: a unique vineyard that brings together, in a single location, over 150 native grape varieties from every Italian Region.
Featuring folk dances, educational sessions with archaeologists and winemakers, workshops for adults and children, special guided tours and artisans, the event will focus on grapes and wine, and will bring the joy of the grape harvest festival to life in the heart of the city. A refreshment area with street food is also available during the event (not included in the admission ticket).
Planted in 2018 by Luca Maroni, together with La Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Tuscia, and the Rauscedo Cooperative Nurseries, Vigneto Italia is truly unique: it encompasses a rich biodiversity in a single strip of land, subject to the same conditions of sun, wind, and water, and cultivated exclusively using biodynamic agriculture. A true experiment, it produced its first wine in 2022, Somma Sapienza, a white and red vinified from a blend of over 70 different native varieties.
