Soweto Gospel Choir

The Auditorium Conciliazione hosts the prestigious vocal ensemble, which arrives in Rome for an unmissable concert as part of Hope, the international tour with which they spread a message of joy, freedom, and faith. 

On stage, the artists of the Soweto Gospel Choir perform the most evocative Christmas melodies of the gospel tradition, as well as songs celebrating the Freedom of South Africa, which inspired their Rainbow Nation, and songs by American music legends - such as Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Otis Redding and Curtis Mayfield - dedicated to the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.

Founded in 2003, the group, recognised as one of the world's leading gospel choirs, has received numerous awards, including three Grammy Awards, and has collaborated with some of the greatest artists on the international music scene, including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, U2, Robert Plant, Celine Dion, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Peter Gabriel and Ben Harper.

In an exciting fusion of tribal, traditional, African and Western gospel, and with the power of a cappella singing, the members of the Soweto Gospel Choir, in six of the eleven South African languages, give voice to the hopes of South Africa and the deepest emotions of people who have fought for their freedom, embodying the inspirational power of the African gospel.
