This year too, the annual event of the European Mobility Week 2024, the awareness campaign on the issues of sustainable urban mobility, promoted by the European Commission, is renewed in Rome from 16 to 22 September. The central theme for 2024 is Shared public space, to underline the importance of shared use of public spaces in cities, where over 70% of the European population lives.
The main thematic guidelines indicated by the Commission regarding this year's theme are four: Experiencing public space differently; Redevelop urban space together; Create safe spaces for active mobility; Plan and design safer streets.
In fact, an urban environment in which people, means of transport and various activities have their own space, promotes social equity, increases road safety, reduces air pollution, thus improving the quality of life.
Participation in the event is open to all: groups of people, associations, social partners, research/teaching institutes, local/national authorities, public institutions and public/private companies, are all invited to the European Mobility Week with events that promote change ethical towards a culture of more sustainable urban mobility.
The awareness event/action can be limited to a specific day or last several days.
Like every year, the European Commission provides the official logo of the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK campaign and the Communication Toolkit, together with the rules for use, to characterize the promotion of the initiatives.
To participate in initiatives and events it is necessary to complete and send the participation form to marco.giberti@romamobilita.it
The initiatives will then be included in the European Mobility Week Official Program, currently being defined.
