The composer Nicola Piovani concludes the Santa Cecilia summer festival with an unforgettable evening at the Auditorium Parco della Musica of film music, in which he conducts a selection of his own compositions.
The evening begins with a world premiere of his Concerto Cantatore, followed by the Rhapsody for clarinet and orchestra “Cyberknife", featuring Santa Cecilia Principal Clarinet Alessandro Carbonare as soloist. The second half of the evening is entirely dedicated to Piovani's relationship with cinema: the program features the symphonic suite from the soundtrack of the famous film Life is beautiful, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1999. This is followed by the Fellini Suite, a tribute to the Rimini-born director with whom Piovani began a successful collaboration, composing the scores for his last three films—Interview, Ginger and Fred, and The voice of the moon—replacing the late Nino Rota.
