The great horsemen, amazons and the best horses in the world, amidst art, nature and culture, will arrive from 21 to 25 May at Piazza di Siena, in the heart of the Villa Borghese, for the 92nd Official International Horse Competition of Rome - Master d'Inzeo, organised by FISE and Sport e Salute, a unique show open to the public and totally free of charge.
The five-day event will feature the best jumping horse and rider combinations vying for wins, and the Rolex Grand Prix Rome on the final day on Sunday 25th.
The Rome international horse show (CSIO) is strongly committed to environmental rehabilitation and protection. The event is designed with a bio-architecture approach to respect the surrounding environment, with sustainability as its primary goal. As many as 11,000 square metres of green spaces are always at the disposal of the city of Rome.
A unique place in the world, Piazza di Siena saw the debut of the prestigious competition in 1922. In 1926, the FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) included the Roman Contest in the international calendar. It is from that moment that the official numbering of the CSIO began.
Amidst buildings, sculptures, monuments and fountains, works by great artists of Baroque, neoclassical and eclectic art, centuries-old trees, ponds, Italian-style gardens and vast open spaces, events unique to Italian equestrianism took place, unforgettable challenges between protagonists of the calibre of the d'Inzeo brothers and Graziano Mancinelli who, together with many other standard bearers of this noble sport, competed on the ground of this magnificent court.
Today's total prize money amounts to more than one million euros and the ten teams in the field are ready to fight it out over a long weekend of jumping excellence: Argentina, Belgium, United Arab Emirates, France, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Switzerland and, of course, Italy.
On Friday 23 May, a particularly exciting event will feature the unmistakable and iconic silhouettes of the Frecce Tricolori, who will take to the skies in their MB-339 P.A.N. Aermacchi.
