On 28 May, the Teatro Costanzi hosts Visioni d'addio , the second evocative symphonic concert of the four appointments included in Doppio Sogno, the 2025-2026 season of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.
The programme features the splendid music of two of the greatest composers in the history of European music, Richard Strauss and Franz Schubert. Despite belonging to different eras and sensibilities, the two masterpieces share a profound spiritual intensity and a solid musical architecture, representing a high point in the musical history of both composers.
The event opens with Strauss's Vier letzte Lieder, one of the most intense works of late European Romanticism, distinguished by its refined writing and extraordinary fusion of vocal line and orchestral texture, featuring the voice of the famous Latvian soprano Marina Rebeka.
Following is Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 9 in C major, D 944, known as “The Great”, created in the last years of the Austrian composer's life, which represents one of the greatest 19th-century symphonic works.
On the podium is Michele Mariotti, one of the most renowned conductors on the international music scene, with the Orchestra del Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in a concert of great artistic significance, which highlights the richness and majesty of the great European symphonic repertoire.
