Manolo Valdés. Le Forme del Tempo

Manolo Valdés. Le forme del tempo

"We build upon that which art history has placed in our hands", says the famous Manolo Valdés, the all-around Spanish artist, who, after 25 years, returns to Rome with "Le Forme del Tempo", a solo exhibition hosted at the splendid Palazzo Cipolla Museum.

On display about seventy works - including paintings and sculptures, some of which are large - characterized by disruptive energy, essential shapes and refined features. The artworks come from the artist's studio and important private collections, showing the public Valdés' creative path from the early 1980s to the present days.

The artworks were masterfully realised with different materials - such as wood, marble, bronze, alabaster, brass, steel, iron - and represent a sort of journey through time in the figurative and playful visionary research, with which Valdés has symbolically dialogued with the artists of the past - from Velázquez to Rubens and Zurbarán, from El Greco to Ribera, up to Léger, Matisse and Lichtenstein - creating his unique style and a new, brilliant language.

The exhibition, strongly wanted by Prof. Avv. Emmanuele Francesco Maria Emanuele, President of the Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Internazionale which promotes it, is organized by POEMA in collaboration with the Galleria Contini in Venice, with the organizational support of Comediarting and Arthemisia. The review is curated by Gabriele Simongini.
