Late Night Jazz

The Late Night Jazz musical event, as part of the Summer Season of the Opera Theater in Caracalla, consists of three evening events, united by jazz music.

The first appointment presents Fedra, a project that blends jazz, baroque music and songwriting. In this project the musicians - Simona Severini (voice), Daniele Requesti (violin and viola), Giulio Corini (double bass) and Peo Alfonsi (guitar) - reinterpret arias and madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi, Henry Purcell and Orlando di Lasso through the different styles and the forms of jazz and improvisation; Thus a dialogue takes place between past and present, between Renaissance songs and contemporary songs, absolutely original and outside the box.

The second appointment features Eddie & The Kids, a trio made up of Fabrizio Sferra (drums), Enzo Pietropaoli (double bass) and the young talent Edoardo Ferri (guitar), who have collaborated with important jazz musicians such as Enrico Pieranunzi Danilo Rea. The musical language of the group, which starts from jazz, is enriched by country music that characterizes its style. Thus the trio's repertoire combines original compositions with well-known songs by Neil Young, Radiohead, Elvis Presley and Sam Amidon.

Finally, the third and final event of the program is the concert by Elena Paparusso who, together with Francesco Poeti (guitar), Giuseppe Romagnoli (double bass) and Matteo Bultrini (drums), presents her second album Anatomy of the Sun. It is a musical project in which the singer and composer investigates her own emotions, through the writing of songs in which influences from African-American songs and a taste for contemporaneity are blended.
