Lacrimosa

The contemporary dance show Lacrimosa, a national preview at the Teatro India and inspired by the famous choreography The Dying Swan by Michel Fokine, with music by Camille Saint-Saen, becomes on stage a metaphor for the end of romantic feelings and the return to daily solitude.

Lacrimosa, which includes written and sound fragments by Simone Zambelli and the collaboration on the dramaturgy of Cinzia Sità, assistant choreographer, focuses on the dichotomy between death and rebirth, questioning how one survives the end of a love and the rebuilding of a body that reconnects to life; this refers to the lost image of the swan, which represents a figure of passage, a memory. What remains in fact is a body without wings, naked, wet, without any desire for a new flight. Reduced to the earth, together with the things that surround it, the swan is again a human body which, returned within the domestic walls, with repeated gestures, arms that try to fly, is imprisoned in a ritual of movements in an imaginary dimension. At the centre is a reflection on the present time that, reiterating the memories of the past in a multitude of words, gestures, images, tries to fill the fear of emptiness and loneliness.

The scene is divided into an internal and an external space, one everyday and the other extra-everyday, one full of objects and the other empty, with a puddle of water in the centre. The sound becomes a flow of words, sentences, songs, and is interrupted by a rushing wind.
