Officially started with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica on 24 December 2024, the Jubilee 2025 is the 27th ordinary universal jubilee in the history of the Church and the second jubilee celebrated by the current pontiff after the extraordinary one in 2015.
The entire jubilee period is characterized by a rich calendar of religious, cultural and social events. Aside from celebrations and rituals addressed to all the faithful, the Holy Year’s program includes several “jubilees” dedicated to different categories of people, identified according to specific professions or their role within the family, the Church and society. Each one includes moments of dialogue and spirituality, with a concluding mass celebrated by the pope.
The days from 25 to 27 April are dedicated to young people aged between approximately 12 and 17, from catholic dioceses, parishes, movements and associations. Each group of teenagers is coordinated and represented by a group leader, who must necessarily be over the age of 18 and have written authorization from their parents or legal guardians. The program of the Jubilee of Teenagers includes, on Friday 25 April, the pilgrimage to the Holy Door, with the option of confession in the Jubilee churches, and the Prayer of the Via Lucis (stations of the Resurrection and Pentecost) on the steps of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in the EUR district. On Saturday 26 April, the pilgrimage to the Holy Door is accompanied by music and entertainment activities in various Roman piazzas.
On 27 April, during the concluding Sunday mass (presided over by the pontiff or his delegate), some young people will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and the blessed Carlo Acutis (3 May 1991 - 12 October 2006) will be canonized. The mass is presided over by the Pope or his delegate: entrance to St Peter’s Square is completely free on this occasion and does not require any type of ticket.
The program may be subject to change.
